Welcome! Our group at Monash University explores the structure of solids and their transformations. Our tool of choice for characterising atomic structure is transmission electron microscopy.

Congratulations to Dr Shenghan Su on being awarded his PhD (September 2024)! His thesis is entitled “atomic-scale modelling of solid-state precipitation in aluminium alloys”.
Congratulations to Dr Yu Zhang on being awarded his PhD (July 2024)! His thesis is entitled “mapping lithium distributions in magnesium-lithium alloys by electron energy-loss spectroscopy”.
We organised the Electron Crystallography School as a satellite event to the IUCr Congress in Melbourne this August. It was a great success! More detail can be found at the Microscopy Australia news page and the newsletter of the Society of Crystallographers in Australia and New Zealand (page 7).

Loreibelle Abian has been awarded three prizes in 2023! Best Poster Prize, Australian Conference on Microscopy and Microanalysis, Perth, Feb. 2023, a Maslen Scholarship to the 26th Congress and General Assembly of the International Union of Crystallography, Melbourne, August 2023, and Best Poster Prize at the IUCr Congress. Well done Loreibelle!
